CELINA, TX -- Entering its fourth year as a community partner established by Celina citizen volunteers, the Celina Community Police Foundation has an opening for a dedicated community volunteer who wants to serve as a member of the Board of Directors.

The Board of Directors oversee the business operations and fundraising for the Foundation, which is a registered Texas business as well as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Foundation Board members are responsible for setting the direction, goals and mission of the Foundation, as well as establishing fundraising goals for the fiscal year to support the growing needs of the community programs we support.

Volunteers typically spend 10-15 hours per week volunteering for the Foundation, including appearing at community events, fundraising efforts and building relationships within the community. This can include meeting with local businesses to discuss fundraising and sponsorship; appearing at community events to talk about the Foundation and its programs; or serving on a committee to work one of the many Foundation-supported programs, such as Citizens Police Academy and National Night Out.

"This is a hands-on role that requires someone to be self-starting and come in with ideas on how to continue growing our programs and supporting our law enforcement community," says Mercedes Gall, the Foundation's President and one its Founding Members, "this certainly isn't an advisor role, it's a roll-up-your-sleeves and help hit the streets role."

To be eligible to serve on the Board of Directors, one must be eighteen years of age or older, and interested in supporting the mission of the Foundation and its law enforcement partners. Volunteers will go through a thorough background check process, as you will be working side-by-side with Celina Police Department personnel. There is no residency requirement, but preference is given to those that live or work in Celina and have completed a Citizens Police Academy program through Celina Police Department.

Applications will be open until January 29, 2024. Once the application period closes, the Board will convene and provide a process going forward. This could include Board interviews, phone calls or a request for more information. Once a new Director is selected, they will be appointed upon selection by the Board.

The Celina Community Police Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization founded by Celina citizen volunteers. The mission of the Foundation is to enhance, support and fund community programs that build relationships between our community and its law enforcement partners. The Foundation is managed completely by volunteers and is 100% supported by private donations and sponsors.
