What brought you to Celina Police Department?

I started my law enforcement career at Carrollton PD in 2018. I heard about the growth opportunities that the City of Celina has to offer and that was initially my main draw to the city. After having spent some time here, now I see how great the leadership is at Celina and believe it is one of the best things about this department. Our leadership sees the growth we need to make and they are excited about the future. I believe leadership is one of kind, humble, and forward-thinking. The growth opportunities also make it a very exciting time to be a part of the Celina Police Department.

What was the motivation behind becoming a law enforcement officer?

I had a negative experience with the police when I was younger. That experience helped me want to be the change in law enforcement and show a more empathic side of policing. I understand not every call can be treated with gentle hands, but I believe empathy and respect are incredibly important aspects to exude in this line of work.

It’s lunch time in Celina, and you haven’t eaten. What’s on the menu?

Toasted Walnut – and I’m getting the banh mi fries (They need to come back out with these!).

What’s the best part of the job?

This is a hard one for me, because there are so many great things to this job. I love the community engagement aspect and interacting with the people we serve, showing people my silly side and just having fun. I love the investigation aspect and being thorough in my reports and evidence gathering. I also love driving fast and putting bad guys in jail when and where it’s needed.

What TV show are you currently binging?

Dexter. This is my third time to watch it all the way through.

What’s the most memorable moment for you while on patrol?

While at Carrollton, we had a report of a man being robbed at his home and had a description of the fleeing suspect vehicle. I was in the area, saw the suspect vehicle, and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle fled from me through the neighborhood and onto the highway, where other squad cars then joined in the chase. After approximately 5 minutes, the vehicle exited the highway through the grass and went airborne. The vehicle landed, but in the process took out both of their right tires. They continued at a much slower pace with sparks flying out from their vehicle. They eventually spun out, finally gave up, and were then taken into custody.

Your go-to coffee order is…

Peppermint Mocha.

What does a typical day off look like for you?

My family all lives in the DFW area, so I can be found hanging out and catching dinner with my brothers or mom on a long weekend. I love hanging out on my couch with my dog, Stormy, and I like playing video games or watching TV/movies and reading (anything fantasy-genre).

If you had the opportunity to change someone’s perception about law enforcement, what would you say?

I understand people’s opinions can’t be changed from just one interaction. However, I fully believe each positive interaction can slowly help morph those viewpoints. Usually, when people contact the police, it’s the worst day of their life. I go into those moments just trying to make it a little less miserable of an experience.

Favorite sports team?

Dallas Cowboys.
